LANOTEC Steel Seal Liquid Lanolin 5L / 20L
Product Highlights
🛡️ Long-Term Corrosion Protection
Forms a durable protective barrier that helps protect metal surfaces against moisture, salt, rust and corrosion in harsh environments.
💧 Wash-Off & Salt Resistant
Provides strong resistance to moisture, salt and wash-off, making it ideal for outdoor, coastal and marine environments.
🔄 Flexible & Self-Sealing Protection
Forms a flexible lanolin-based protective film that resists cracking and peeling and can re-seal after minor scratches to help maintain continuous protection.
🔩 Protects Existing Rusted Surfaces
Can be applied to existing rusted metal surfaces to help slow further corrosion by sealing out moisture and oxygen.
⚡ Electrical Protection up to 41 kV
Once the carrier has fully evaporated, the protective film is non-conductive up to 41 kV, helping protect electrical components against moisture and corrosion.
🚙 Ideal for Undercarriage & Exposed Metal
Ideal for vehicle underbodies, chassis, trailers, machinery and exposed metal structures requiring long-term protection against mud, water, salt and harsh weather.
How to Use
1️⃣ Prepare the Surface
For best results, apply to a clean, dry surface. Remove loose dirt, rust and contaminants that may affect adhesion before application.
2️⃣ Mix Well Before Use
Shake smaller containers thoroughly before use. For 5 L and 20 L containers, stir or mechanically mix the product thoroughly until evenly blended.
3️⃣ Apply Evenly
Apply Steel-Seal evenly to the metal surface. Depending on the pack size and application, the product may be sprayed, brushed or rolled onto the surface.
4️⃣ Allow to Set & Dry
Allow approximately 1 hour for the carrier to evaporate and the protective film to form before exposing the treated surface to water.
5️⃣ Inspect & Reapply as Required
Inspect the protective film periodically and reapply when necessary, particularly after prolonged exposure to harsh or high-exposure environments.
FAQs
Q: What is LANOTEC Steel-Seal mainly used for?
A: Steel-Seal is designed for long-term corrosion protection of metal surfaces, particularly equipment exposed to moisture, salt, rain and harsh outdoor or coastal environments.
Q: What equipment and surfaces can Steel-Seal be used on?
A: Steel-Seal is suitable for vehicle underbodies and chassis, trailers, marine and coastal equipment, agricultural machinery, industrial equipment, tools, spare parts and other exposed metal structures.
Q: Can Steel-Seal be applied to already rusted surfaces?
A: Yes. Steel-Seal can form a protective barrier over existing rust to help seal out moisture and oxygen and slow further corrosion. Remove loose rust, dirt and contaminants before application for best results.
Q: Does Steel-Seal form a hard coating?
A: No. Steel-Seal forms a flexible lanolin-based protective film that resists cracking and peeling. The film can also re-seal after minor scratches to help maintain continuous protection.
Q: Can Steel-Seal be used on electrical components?
A: Yes. Once the carrier has fully evaporated, the protective film is non-conductive up to 41 kV and can help protect compatible electrical components and connections against moisture and corrosion.
Q: How often should Steel-Seal be reapplied?
A: Reapplication depends on environmental exposure, equipment use and the condition of the protective film. Inspect treated surfaces during routine maintenance and reapply when the protective layer has been compromised or after prolonged exposure to demanding conditions.

Flexible, Self-Sealing Corrosion Protection for Exposed Metal Surfaces
Built for outdoor and coastal protection.
Flexible, Self-Sealing Corrosion Protection.
LANOTEC Steel-Seal is a long-term corrosion inhibitor designed for exposed, stored and preservation-critical metal surfaces. It forms a flexible lanolin-based barrier that protects against moisture, condensation, salt spray and corrosive atmospheric contaminants. Unlike hard coatings that may crack, chip or peel, its self-sealing film can flow across minor scratches to help maintain continuous protection.
Built for Vehicles, Equipment and Storage.
From vehicle underbodies, chassis and trailers to machinery, tools, spare parts and outdoor metal structures, Steel-Seal protects assets exposed to demanding conditions. It is also suitable for marine and coastal equipment, agricultural machinery, export shipments and the onboard or storage preservation of subsea equipment between deployments.
Reaches Difficult Areas and Remains Visible.
The liquid formulation spreads easily into seams, welds, cavities, overlaps and other corrosion-prone areas that conventional coatings may struggle to reach. Steel-Seal can be sprayed, brushed or rolled onto the surface, leaving a comparatively transparent protective film that allows the underlying metal to remain visible during routine inspection and maintenance.
Preserve Equipment for Longer.
Steel-Seal uses renewable and biodegradable lanolin as its lasting protective component, reducing reliance on a residual film made entirely from petroleum-derived materials. By controlling corrosion and extending equipment service life, it can help reduce repeated maintenance, premature component replacement, material consumption and operational downtime.
